When are tax bills mailed and when are they due?
Tax bills are mailed twice a year.
The tax bills mailed July 1st are due September 14th and the tax bills mailed December 1st are due on February 14th.

Can I pay my utility and tax bills online or with a credit/debit card?
We accept credit and debit cards over the phone, online or in our office. To pay online, go to the BS&A Payment/Information Website.
Please note that when a credit or debit card is accepted for payment, there is a 3% convenience fee charged by our third-party provider.

When will my garbage be picked up?
A garbage collection schedule can be found on our Refuse Page, or an interactive map can be found here.

Where do I get a Building Permit?
The first step in getting a building permit is to receive a township issued zoning permit, available in our office or online under Forms and Applications. After receiving a Zoning Permit from the Township, you will need to go to the:

Is the Assessor allowed on my property?
Yes, it’s common practice for assessors to walk around the perimeter of your home. For them to accurately assess your property for tax purposes, they must know the dimensions of all structures. Should you request them to vacate the premise, will honor that request. Every attempt to assess your property by other means will then be conducted but can lead to less accurate reviews.

Will the Assessor ask to come inside my home/garage?
No, the Assessor does not need to, nor will they ever ask to come inside any of your buildings or home.

Do I need a permit for a sign?
Yes, all signs need a permit.

Do I need a permit to install a fence?
Yes. A zoning permit is required for ALL fences within the Township. You can find a fence permit application under Forms and Documents.

Do I need a permit to put a shed or barn in my yard?
If the shed is less than 192 Square Feet, then you do not have to have a permit but do still need to abide by your zoning setbacks.

Who do I call when a street sign is down?
The Dickinson County Road Commission is in charge of maintaining the streets and street signs. The phone number is (906) 774-1588.

The snowplow hit my mailbox, now what?
The Dickinson County Road Commission handles complaints regarding property damaged by snowplows. Please contact them at (906) 774-1588.

My street light is out. Who do I call?

How do I get a Fire Number?

When will my compost be picked up?
From April through November, our Department of Public Works picks up compost for our residents. The schedule can vary depending on weather and conditions.

Can I rent the park pavilion?
Our parks/park pavilions are not available for rent; however you are welcome to use them for your private gatherings.
Availability is first come first serve.

Does my dog need a license?
Yes, all dogs in Dickinson County need a license.
Tags are available at the township office from December 1st until March 1st or available at the County Courthouse year-round.

How many acres do I need to have horses?
A minimum of 7 acres and you must be zoned either RR-2 or RR-3.

Is my alley abandoned?
Dickinson County Road Commission handles the Right of Ways in Breitung Township.
