Free Smoke Detectors for Breitung Township Residents

🚨 Free Smoke Detectors for Breitung Township Residents: Safety First!

In a continued effort to protect the lives and homes of our community, the Breitung Township Fire Department (BTFD) is proud to announce a partnership with the Michigan State Fire Marshal’s Office. Together, we are launching a program to ensure that every residence in Breitung Township is equipped with working smoke detectors.

🔥 Why This Matters

Smoke detectors save lives. Early detection of smoke and fire can mean the difference between a close call and a tragedy. This initiative is designed to make sure no household goes without this essential safety device — especially those who may not be able to afford or install one themselves.

🛠️ How It Works

If you or someone you know in Breitung Township needs a smoke detector, here’s what to do:

  1. Call the Township Office at 906-779-2050 to request assistance.

  2. BTFD Firefighter will contact you to schedule a visit.

  3. During the visit, the firefighter will:

    • Conduct a brief safety survey.

    • Determine the number and type of detectors needed.

    • Install the smoke detectors—free of charge.

We also have specialized smoke detectors for residents with hearing impairments, ensuring everyone in our community is protected.

📞 Questions or Concerns?

If you have any questions about the program or need more information, don’t hesitate to call the Township Office at 906-779-2050. A firefighter will be happy to assist you.

âś… No Cost. No Hassle. Just Safety.

This service — including the smoke detectors and installation—is completely free for all Breitung Township residents.

Let’s work together to keep our community safe—one smoke detector at a time.
